Welcome to Skyfari: Mae Phim.

In October 2020 we continue our series of very intimate skydiving events in exotic places, focusing on jumping skills and on building life long memories in our small group of only eight participants + two organisers.

Mae Phim is a former fishing village located in eastern Thailand. Long, white beaches and palm trees dress the coast line and Mae Phim is often described as "a hidden gem" since it's a peaceful area often visited by Bangkok locals seeking a weekend refuge. This area is famous for seafood and fruit, rice fields, national parks and temples. From Mae Phim you can see Koh Samet - an island surrounded with tropical coral reefs. The island is a national park in itself and offers beautiful sea, clear water and snorkeling. October is the first month following the rain season in this area. The average daily temperature is 28 degrees celsius. In the evenings, the bright red sun drops into the Gulf of Thailand. Mae Phim is the base the 2020 Skyfari.

Skyfari: Mae Phim is the sixth event in the series of exclusive, intimate experiences of skydiving and life. They have previously been held in Kenya and South Africa. Will Penny who together with Johannes Bergfors founded the Skyfari events, is not available this season due to other work obligations, but suggested that Felix Seifert could take his place this time. Everyone involved agreed happily!

Therefore, in October 2020, Johannes and Felix invite you to come and experience this part of the world, share life long memories and progress your skydiving skills in small groups.

Accommodation
We are sharing an incredibly beautiful and spacious house located inside the Mae Phim Residence. It's 200m from the sea, has a private pool and beautiful common spaces. We offer four rooms with double beds and two rooms with two single beds in each. The house is rented from Oct 23-Nov 1 and of course includes amenities like sheets and bath towels. You will stay in a room with one other person or in your own room, depending on what constellations of participants we get.

Food
If you have attended a Skyfari event in the past then the standard we have on our food won't come as a surprise to you - nutritious, light and flavoursome. We are working on sourcing a private chef to cook breakfasts and dinners for us. In that case we assume that all participants will contribute to the costs. If we can't find a chef that reaches our standard, we will ourselves prepare the breakfast, then go out for dinners. Lunches will be delivered to the DZ from nearby restaurants.

Saturday Oct 24: Acclimatisation day. A common excursion.
Sunday Oct 25: Jump day.
Monday Oct 26: Jump day.
Tuesday Oct 27: Jump day.
Wednesday Oct 28: Jump day.
Thursday Oct 29: Excursion to national park.
Friday Oct 30: Jump day then full moon.
Saturday Oct 31: Relaxation day/Departure day.
Sunday Nov 1: Departure day.

This is the first time we arrange an event in Thailand, so we ask for your patience with figuring the details out as we go. We have great support on location from the DZ and the house renting company who are helping us with logistics and comfortability - and there's no doubt in our mind that, just like in the past, the first trip to a new place will be the most memorable!

Travel
Fly to Bangkok. Flights from central Europe begin at 500€. A shuttle will take you on a 2h30m transfer from BKK to Mae Phim. Felix and Johannes will have a car for shorter errants, and for the rest we will take minibuses. All your ground transportation is included in the registration cost.

Jumping
Skydive Thailand is located only ten minutes from our villa on Mae Phim beach. They are a very collaborative, five star USPA affiliated drop zone and their modern facilities offer air conditioned rooms, a private airfield and hangar. We will jump from 13.000 feet from a fresh PAC750XL. There is a riggers loft, packers and a beautiful coastal view from the exit altitude. Our package includes 25 jumps in a 4-1 ratio - a group size true to the Skyfari format. It offers us to train you on more advanced manoeuvres and give you more personal attention.

Activities
Included in your registration fee are two excursions. We will decide as we get closer which ones we choose, but our options include a visit at 400 year old temple, mangrove forest hike, cascading waterfall swim, botanical garden, Ban Phe market and cave exploration with headlights.

We're also working towards an inhopp on Koh Samet. If we manage that, an "at cost" will be involved for ferry fees back to the mainland etc.

The price is €2050.

Slots are very limited and advantage will be given to previous Skyfari participants.
